Laura here! I got really lazy at some point mid-pandemic and stopped posting our episodes here. We are still going strong and show notes are in the episode descriptions. Check us out on Apple Podcasts or Stitcher or wherever you get your podcasts.
#215 – Career Choices and Annoying Kid Voices
Laura’s feeling better, so it’s Caitlin’s turn to feel bummed and questioning all her life’s choices. We have chatty kids, who love to point out stuff to us in the car while we’re listening to podcasts. How many times have your kids interrupted you while listening to this episode?

#214 – Cafeteria Quarantine
Continuing with cafeteria quarantine, Caitlin and Laura review where they are at. Caitlin doesn’t have the kids, courtesy of a toy going in the toilet. Laura gives an update about how she’s dealing with her personal COVID-induced crisis. Oh and programming note: The Canadian/US border is now officially closed until July 21, 2020. They announced this extension later in the day we recorded this episode, oddly enough. And in purely Canadian fashion, Air Canada refunded Laura and Tim’s plane tickets without even being asked.
We mentioned the Science Vs podcast.
#213 – (Pre)School’s Out For…Ever?
Laura opens the show with her sadness around preschool ending, and in particular the way it is ending. Caitlin is typically emotionless about David’s end to preschool. Caitlin pushes Laura to do something to address her difficulty and disengagement rooted in social distancing fatigue. Caitlin is struggling with how David did on his Kindergarten pre-screening assessment, and general unhelpful comparisons to other kids.

#212 – Black Lives Matter
Because of our recording cadence, this is the first time we mention the murder of George Floyd and the international uprising against white supremacy and police brutality. So let us state for the record: we must abolish white supremacy. Remember that we all carry around racial prejudices from our socialization as kids, we act on those prejudices when we discriminate against people because of their race, and Racism is a system, one that the United States was founded on. It is no longer enough to simply be a nice person and like Black people. We must actively work to be anti-racist.

#211 – Everything Was “Fine” Until It Wasn’t
Quick programming note: this episode was recorded a few weeks before the events of Memorial Day weekend and the murder of George Floyd. While the Black Lives Matter movement is and should always be elevated, the particular cultural moment of the last days of May and first days of June isn’t acknowledged here as the murder wasn’t widespread news yet. Please educate yourself on this movement today, tomorrow and in the years beyond this time.
Laura opens the show by discussing a child-induced back injury she’s dealing with, but luckily has other good news to help alleviate that issue. Caitlin talks about her uneventful Memorial Day weekend, and the privilege of being able to go somewhere and pretend nothing was happening for a while. We talk about people who have another house to go to in order to escape COVID. Laura is cautiously optimistic about a new development, and is on a skin saga to help with pandemic pimps.

#207 – Same Quarantine, Different Day
Caitlin is still struggling with Joe’s early wake ups, so of course she has to go through her weekly complaint about it. A little nudity goes a long way in Laura’s house, who is having an ok week, with the ups and downs of COVID lift. We have short fuses due to the pandemic and Laura talks about a recent hill she’s chosen to die on, inadvisedly. In good news, potty training Tommy has been going well…for everyone but Charlie.
